VICKI CHILDS

Vicki Childs grew up in England, not far from Windsor Castle.

She studied Psychology at the University of Surrey and spent most of her career working in the corporate world in talent acquisition and training.

She relocated to California with her husband in 2008, just before the birth of their first child. 

​

After calling Pasadena home for almost fifteen years, Vicki now lives in Windermere, Florida with her husband, two children, two dogs and two cats. 

Vicki is the author of the 'Rachel's Butterflies' trilogy, including 'Rachel's Butterflies', 'Kiss the Sun,' and 'Butterflies Rising'.

QUESTIONS FOR THE AUTHOR:

What prompted you to write your first novel? 

​

I have always enjoyed telling stories, I put it down to my Celtic genes, but I'd never considered writing a book until one Tuesday afternoon in May 2019. 

I met a friend for coffee. He is an author who had just published his third novel. We talked about writing, and I began to feel the glimmer of inspiration. By Saturday I was already planning the novel that would become 'Rachel's Butterflies'!

Do you write full time? If not, then how do you find the time to write?

​

I don't write full time as I'm currently focusing primarily on being a mom. However, I have learned to put aside my preconceptions about where and how I should be writing, and instead I just use the time and resources I have available to me.

I have written many of my chapters while folding laundry or sitting in the car at extracurricular activities. I love to write, and I enjoy spending time with my characters, so I will find the time even when my schedule is challenging.
